Dial-Up Internet Service Providers

Most areas of the United States have local dial-up internet service providers. However there are also several companies that provide service all over the nation.

American Online

America Online, LLC (AOL) is a division on Time-Warner Inc. AOL currently has an estimated 20 million members and is the nation’s leading Internet Service Provider. Earthlink dial-up is up to five times faster than the average, traditional ISP. Earthlink provides free tools to block viruses, protect from spyware, spam, and protect from online scams. Firewall protection also comes free with the Protection Control Center software. Parental controls and 24-hour phone support are also offered as part of the member benefits package. The Spaminator by Symantec blocks virtually all spam e-mail using a permission-based system and can be added for $2.95 per month. Internet Call Waiting Messenger offered in partnership with CallWave includes the alert feature and an additional feature that allows the caller to leave a voice message that can be played on the customer’s computer. This feature is available for an additional $3.95 per month. Internet Call Waiting Connect is also offered in partnership with CallWave.
